God Thanked For Miracle

"Thanks for not killing those trapped miners." That was the message to God from churches around the nation on Sunday.

The miracle began when nine coal miners became trapped in a water-filled mine shaft after accidentally cutting into an existing shaft which was full of water.

"God almost got us right then," said one rescued miner, "but we were spared so we could have a miraculous rescue later."

Drillbits And Engineers Helped Miracle Along

When the miracle of the miners not dying finally did occur, many in the religious community acknowledged the part that the drilling rigs and engineers played in the miracle.

"Oh yeah," said project manager Jeff Matthews, "God would have taken them out for sure if we didn't have those big drills, but I guess that was part of His plan all along."
