Dennis Miller Hopes To Find New Pseudo-intellectual Genre

One of HBO's most popular shows, Dennis Miller Live, has aired its final episode.

Originally titled Denis Leary Live, and then briefly Eddie Murphy Live, HBO changed the title after neither comedian accepted the offer. Soon after this, Dennis Miller Live had began it's 9 year run.

Dennis Miller Live and the show's host, Dennis Miller, helped HBO to gain several Emmys as well as a large middle class audience who consider both themselves and the host to be extremely intelligent -- a demographic highly sought after in the entertainment world called "people who pay for movie channels".

At the height of his career, 1995, Miller even persuaded Congress to pass the Journalistic Review Reform Act of 1995, which required all reporters to use the adjective "erudite" when discussing or reviewing the comedian.

Now, with last season's loss of his Monday Night Football "color commentary gig" and Friday's cancellation of his weekly HBO series, many viewers expect Dennis Miller to fade away, but Miller hopes he can take his trademark "rant" style wit into new areas, such as bit roles in movies and cameos in sitcoms.

"My goal is to be the guy who comes in at the end of a show and tries to make everyone think he's smart. I think I can do it," beams the erudite comedian. "Of course, I could be wrong."
