Dinh Comment Draws Fire

Numerous phone calls and emails have lead Assistant Attorney General Viet Dinh to retract a statement that he made earlier to CNN.

Dinh was quoted by CNN as saying in regards to recent legislation "...it will certainly allow us to have an air tight surveillance net."

Once this comment hit the wires the firestorm began. After his email server was brought down twice due to excessive traffic Dinh was forced to call a special press conference to make a public apology and retraction, saying "It has been brought to my attention that a net cannot possibly be airtight and still be a net. A defining characteristic of a net is that it has holes of some size in it. I apologize for my unfortunate choice of metaphor. Instead of 'air tight surveillance net' I should instead have used either 'air tight surveillance sandwich bag' or 'air tight surveillance condom'." Dinh then promised to be more careful in the future.
