Americans Proud To Drive Like Shit

A report by the Kansas Highway Patrol shows that the addition of a "Proud to be an American" or a "God Bless America" bumper sticker to a vehicle does not significantly affect the driving habits of the driver: "A common expectation is that a patriotic sticker is a reflection of a person's respect for the nation and its laws, traffic or otherwise, but this turns out to be not the case."

However, not all drivers see the report in the same negative light. Brenda Werner, owner of 2 SUVs and a Lexus, comments "I think it's just a case of Americans refusing to let the terrorists win: If we try to hold Americans to the meaning of their patriotic slogans, we are basically handing the country over to Osama."

The report notes a similar lack of a correlation in owners of "God is my copilot" and "What Would Jesus Do?" bumper stickers.

"What the report fails to consider," Werner says in rebuttal, "is that Jesus might very well make a left turn on a red light."
